Eclipse Intuit Phone

Eclipse Intuit Phone by Eddie Goh. Powerful 5 megapixel camera with built-in software for editing and uploading to a photo album, slide-out touch keyboard with tactile feedback, and a nice big touchscreen front and center. What makes this concept unique is parts of the phone are made from a chemically based thin solar skin to charge the battery when exposed to any kind of light.

Mimique PDA Phone Concept

RKS design consultants of southern California have just introduced their entry into this soon-to-be-ubiquitous mobile platform with this “Mimique” design.

The Mimique is a response to feature-heavy cell phones that look more like PDAs than phones. Playful and engaging, the Mimique’s design marries the heritage of old-school cell phones with next-generation style and touch-screen technology. The Mimique will use the new open-source cell phone software which will allow users to download features and “skins.” With downloadable upgrades, users won’t need to buy a new phone to get new features.

Nokia People First

Nokia’s advanced design team today shared “Homegrown”, a long term research project looking at how Nokia can help people make more sustainable choices. The team is exploring specific environmental and social issues including recycling, energy and how to make the benefits of mobile technology available to more people.

People First’s navigation is shallow with minimum use of metaphors and abstractions (folders, applications, etc…) Your personal history of events in maintained in a singular vertical list settling over time, with new content being added at the top of the list.

The Scroll Touch Screen Phone

Sure, there’s plenty of far fetched concept devices from big players like Nokia, but it’s nice to see that folks without millions of dollars in research funding can also come up with equally unrealistic devices, as evidenced by this so-called “Scroll” contraption created by 13 Tech Design

Inspired by the ancient Egyptian and Greek scrolls, the Scroll packs some powerful punches. It is a touchscreen mobile phone with a 10 megapixel camera and 1080p camcorder, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, advanced multimedia features. Oh, and a full-fledged computer that runs Windows Vista or XP.

Nokia “Remade” Concept Phone

In the near future we have to reuse and celebrate what is essentially “above ground”. Thus we explored the use of reclaimed and upcycled materials that could ultimately change the way we make things. Now Nokia aims to make a phone constructed entirely of “nothing new”.

Remade is a concept that explores potential new ideas for the future, and is part of Nokia’s ongoing work looking at how it can help people make more sustainable choices.

Nokia Scentsory Phone

Now, it is just a very nice idea. It is always interesting to view
concept products. You never know which one will become the next big
thing.

The concept of Nokia Scentsory is quite cool actually. It is a mobile
communication device that works with the senses of smell, sight,
hearing and touch. If the concept goes into production, this phone
could truly revolutionize remote communication and interfacing.

It can also radiate colors, lighting, and temperature from the
caller’s environment. The dual-screen mobile has a LED touchpad,
speakers, hidden camera and temperature sensors. Nanotechnology has
played an important role in development of this new device.

Using highly sophisticated sensors, the electronic ‘nose’ samples the
odor of the caller’s environs and transmits this to the recipient
electronically. Kimberly Hu designs the Scentsory.
