Eco-Friendly Biodegradable Cell Phone Grows Flowers on Disposal.
Bury your old cell phone which will then grow into a flower. Surreal, perhaps, but a research project is developing this eco-cool technology at this very moment.
UK’s University of Warwick’s Warwick Manufacturing Group working in co-operation with PVAXX Research and Development Ltd disposing of your old, unwanted cell phone could not only become a great deal more eco-friendly but it could also result in a new flower strutting its stuff in your garden.
Surreal though it may sound, the cell phone in development utilises a biodegradable polymer case which, when buried, will simply degrade naturally but, and here’s the real clincher, not only will it break down in the soil in an especially eco-friendly manner but it will also grow a flower thanks to a seed, which is embedded in the casing, springing to life.
this new technology merely concerns the cell phone’s casing as we understand it, so the question remains as to what exactly happens to the discarded cell phones internal electronics (including the not so environmentally friendly battery unit) but the very idea of a discarded cell phone growing a flower fills us will a warm fuzzy feeling inside and one can only wonder as to whether, in the future, cases will be chosen not only due to how they look but according to which flower they’ll result in once no-longer required.
