Dasur from Israel has introduced a couple of touchscreen keyboards for Windows Mobile that each promise something that we would imagine most users are looking for; “superior accuracy, efficiency and speed.” - SlideIt and ThumbKey. Both were designed to enhance the on-screen typing experience and each work in unique ways.
SlideIT: Instead of the current method of tapping each letter on the screen, the user points to the first letter of a word and slides the stylus to the subsequent letters. SlideIt uses sliding, prediction and graffiti. Lifting up the stylus would result in a space.
ThumbKey: Next up we have the ThumbKey method, this offers the ability to begin typing your word and then use your thumb to pick the word out of a list that appears to the right side. This method uses an algorithm to predict the correct word and seems to rely heavily on the users ability to trust the system.
SlideIt and ThumbKey support all versions of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile and similarly support three languages: English, French and Hebrew. The company will make the keyboards available soon in the others operating systems and in many other languages.
